The Graduate Certificate in Special Education is designed for part-time and full-time graduate students who want to specialize in one of five special education strands: autism, learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, giftedness, and intellectual disabilities. Each strand is useful for those who work with people who have disabilities or special abilities in a school, community, day care, or at home. Each of the five strands consists of 15 credits and provides a solid knowledge and practical practice foundation. The hours obtained in each of the five strands can be applied to a master’s or PhD degree program in special education. Hours received in special education master’s or doctoral programs are not eligible for the certificate. Each strand of the certificate requires 15 credit hours.

The graduate certificate in program evaluation and assessment is designed for part-time and full-time graduate students who want to gain specialized knowledge of evaluation theory and practice. This program is especially useful for people who may need to plan and conduct workplace evaluations. The 15-credit certificate program is designed for those who need to conduct evaluations and integrate the findings into program planning and decision-making. Hours obtained for the certificate can be applied to a master’s or doctoral degree program in educational psychology or higher education. Hours obtained in educational psychology or higher education master’s or doctoral programs are not eligible for the certificate. Requirements for a Certificate There are 15 credit hours in total.
The American Evaluation Association’s Program Evaluation Standards guide the learning outcomes associated with the certificate. Students will have demonstrated experience and skills in relation to the following criteria by the end of the certificate:
