Individuals seeking an initial license must complete behavior intervention and support training in accordance with the Board of Education’s approved curriculum guidelines by July 1, 2020. Individuals seeking endorsements in early/primary education, elementary education, or middle education may meet requirements by completing an approved program or by taking an alternative path to licensure if employed by a Virginia public or nonpublic school. A degree in the liberal arts and sciences (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited college or university, professional teacher assessments mandated by the Virginia Board of Education, special endorsement requirements, and professional studies requirements are all part of the licensure program.

This program is intended to prepare students for teacher licensure in Virginia. If you want to teach in a different state, we recommend that you review the criteria for teacher licensure in that state before applying.
This program will prepare students to apply for a Virginia teaching license with a preK-6 endorsement. This program is also approved for field placements in Washington, and WA students can use the out-of-state application to apply for educator certification.
