Sonicwall ssl certificate

How to configure client dpi-ssl

I’m going to import an SSL certificate from a linux computer into the Sonicwall so that we can use the SSL VPN with a real certificate. The certificate was created using the tools included with Ubuntu Linux and Let’s Encrypt. The certbot tool was used to create the certificates. Cert1.pem, chain1.pem, fullchain1.pem, and privkey1.pem are the four files created. I attempted to import all four of them, but only two of them were successful. The privkey1.pem won’t install because it needs to be in p7b format, so I used the openssl command to make a p7b format version of it, but that didn’t seem to work either. This is what I’m seeing on the Sonicwall right now. One is for the Let’s Encrypt Authority X3 and the other is for my domain name A record. CA Certificates are listed for both of them. The issue is that when I go to the SSL VPN Server Settings, the certificate selection drop down only shows “self signed certificate.” Is there anyone who can shed some light on this? Let’s Encrypt has done a fantastic job. Security certificates for use with SSL/TLS are now available to everyone for free. It’s genuinely, truly amazing. They have some very convenient integration with a variety of servers that makes obtaining and using certificates not only convenient, but downright simple.
Unfortunately, SonicWall’s UTM firewalls do not take advantage of the multiple integration options, which is a disappointment for those of us who demand adequate security. The good news is that we can use Let’s Encrypt to secure our communications for both site management and the SSL-VPN with a little extra effort.
There are a few things that must be in place to accomplish this:
1) A valid public domain is required.
2) We’ll need a DNS “A” record that points to the SonicWall’s public IP address.
3) TXT records must be able to be added to our public DNS records.
4)We need SonicWall administrative access.
5) We’ll need access to a Unix or Unix-like workstation, server, or similar device, as well as permissions to use sudo to elevate privileges (don’t log in as root, please).
