Mindy Migedt, a political science major, didn’t waste any time after graduation before launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund her inspiring scarves line. Fashion Food for the Soul is a company that sells scarves with inspirational quotations woven into the design. Mindy credits the skills and experiences she gained in the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program and the program’s Women and Leadership Course for helping her to realize her business idea. This fall, more than 45 incoming freshmen with a strong interest in entrepreneurship joined the Entrepreneurship Learning Community. The Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program held a kick-off dinner for these students, who had a wide range of interests and cultural backgrounds. Educating yourself

Summer series – graduate certificate

Purdue University is a land-grant university established in 1869 by John Purdue. Purdue University’s various colleges, including the College of Agriculture, Education, Engineering, Health and Human Sciences, Liberal Arts, Management, Pharmacy, Polytechnic Institute, Science, and Veterinary Medicine, have offered over 211 undergraduate majors and over 70 graduate majors since its inception. Purdue Engineering was ranked ninth best for undergraduates and third for having the highest international student population. Purdue Polytechnic Institute is one of the country’s largest technology schools, currently tied for first place in rankings. The statewide system, which includes regional campuses and satellite technology-training centers, is anchored by the main campus in West Lafayette.
Purdue’s Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program provides undergraduate students from all disciplines with the opportunity to earn academic credentials in entrepreneurship that complement their major.

As a future entrepreneur, you have a unique perspective on the world. You have a problem and are looking for a solution inside yourself. Entrepreneurship is a rapidly expanding field of study and a way to work on your own schedule. You’ll learn how to solve community and social problems by combining thoughtfulness, connectivity, and creativity.
You’ll provide business analysis and consultancy to university student and community startups to help them move forward, get to the next funding level, work through the next iteration of concept, and prepare for the next production run.

Do you run your own company? Are you planning to take over the family business? Do you intend to engage in corporate “intrapreneurship” within your current organization? Are you seeking an entrepreneurship credit at IU Southeast or Purdue?
Our certificate in entrepreneurship, offered in collaboration with Purdue University’s Purdue Polytechnic New Albany, gives undergraduate students and community members the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and develop the skills they’ll need to start and/or grow a business.
This 15-credit program provides a foundational introduction to entrepreneurship theory as well as practical applications through a core of required courses and a supporting knowledge set that allows you to broaden your business experience and craft your capstone from either IU Southeast subjects ranging from personal finance and business law to advertising and ethics or Purdue offerings in entrepreneurship.
