Dispatch Fundamentals of Supervision – This 8-hour course aims to improve the basic skills needed by civilian supervisors. Scheduling, staffing, the disciplinary process, assessments, and new employee training and mentoring will all be covered in this course.
Dispatcher Role in Mass Casualty Incidents – The aim of this 8-hour course is to improve a Public Safety Dispatcher’s skills when dealing with a mass casualty incident by providing an overview of such incidents and dispatchers’ role in lessons learned, emotional fallout, and resource management.
Active Shooter Situations for Dispatchers – This 8-hour course is for dispatchers of all levels of experience. It walks them through a situation involving an active shooter. The class starts when the first call comes into the communications center and walks students through the process of collecting vital information, making the initial dispatch, ensuring officer and citizen safety, and assessing the center’s impact. This course is intended to help dispatchers prepare for such a chaotic situation.
Prince george’s county 9-1-1: more than just a voice
This program’s courses are designed for law enforcement officers who are currently employed. Some of the courses in this program are P.O.S.T. required in-service Advanced Officer Training (AOT) or Continued Professional Training (CPT), and may be assignment specific or for general career advancement.
The courses in these three programs together validate the college’s mission. They provide educational opportunities not only to new college students, but also to pre-service and in-service students. Meeting the needs of students in terms of job placement, growth, and advancement.
The department provides a valuable service to both students and the community through these programs. The Criminal Justice Training Center has built a reputation for providing excellent instruction and meeting the needs of its students as well as the Law Enforcement community, which makes up its electorate, over the years.

Spotlight – computer-aided dispatch command line
Employees of public safety agencies in California, as well as people who have not yet been employed by a public safety agency, will take Public Safety Dispatcher Courses at the Sacramento Police Department’s Communications Center.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Communications Center provides a 120-hour P.O.S.T. Plan IV Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Course. This course is intended to teach new and aspiring dispatchers about the fundamentals of their work. Employees of California’s public safety agencies, as well as people who have not yet been employed by a public safety agency, will take this course. A Live Scan fingerprint check is requested of anyone who isn’t affiliated with a law enforcement agency (fee applies).

The entire training program lasts between 31 and 37 weeks and is divided into two phases: classroom training and on-the-job call-taking and dispatching training. Trainees will receive a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Public Safety Basic Dispatch certificate after one year of employment and successful completion of probation.
A 7-week POST academy dispatch course in call-taking and radio dispatching for Police, Fire, and Medical response in the City and County of San Francisco is the first phase of the training program. Experienced dispatchers, police officers, firefighters, and other subject matter experts lead this classroom-based learning in areas such as Active Shooter Response, Hate Crimes, Suicide Prevention, and Weapons of Mass Destruction. Trainees will be checked on what they have learned on a weekly basis. If a trainee fails a test, he or she will be given remediation and a make-up exam the following week. Trainees will also take a cumulative final exam covering all course materials at the end of the 7-week course. Trainees who fail to pass the examination process may be distinguished from the rest of the group.
