Marriage and divorce documents in Pennsylvania are not released by the Pennsylvania Division of Vital Records. Contact the courthouse in the county where the marriage license was given or the divorce order was granted to obtain copies of these important documents.

These free online marriage databases and indexes will help you find your ancestors. Some also have online access to digitized versions of the original marriage documents. Due to privacy laws, information on recent marriages may not be available in certain cases, although this usually depends on local legislation.
A dedicated group of volunteers has transcribed and uploaded the bulk of the marriage entries from the Civil Registration Index for England and Wales. From 1837 through the early 1960s, coverage was 100 percent, with indexing continuing into the 1970s. Prior to 1912, marriage index entries did not include the spouse’s surname. To see the names of the other’s mentioned on the same page as these marriage entries, click on the page number. There will be names of up to 4 to 8 people who may be the partner of the person you are interested in, depending on the year.

How to – marriage license

A Marriage Record is a licensed or exemplified copy of a Marriage Application or Duplicate Portion of the Marriage License (used for international purposes). There are a number of reasons why anyone may want to obtain a marriage record, and our office is ready to help.
You’ll still need to submit two checks. The first was paid out to “The Clerk of Orphans’ Court” for $15.00. This is to cover the costs of the testing. If you’re buying a Certified Copy, the second review should be for $25.00, and if you’re ordering an Exemplified Copy, it should be for $50.00.
