New york state bar certificate of good standing

Mark bell’s power project ep. 360 – dr. buttar and the truth

A certificate of good standing certifies an attorney’s admission to practice as well as his or her current good standing with the bar. The term “good standing” refers to an attorney who has been duly admitted to practice, is not currently suspended or disbarred, is registered with the Office of Court Administration, and is not behind on the $375 biennial registration fee required by Judiciary Law 468-a.
The court where you were admitted will provide you with a certificate of good standing. If that court is the Second Judicial Department’s Appellate Division, please follow the directions below.
The Appellate Division has introduced a new procedure for lawyers to request and receive Certificates of Good Standing, which we are pleased to announce. This approach, developed by the Office of Court Administration’s Division of Technology for use by all four Appellate Division departments, is a quick and easy way to request and receive Certificates electronically. Simply follow the directions on the Office of Court Administration’s website, and a Certificate of Good Standing will be sent to your Attorney Services Account e-mail if everything is in order. Attorneys who do not yet have an account with Attorney Online Services are encouraged to do so. If you haven’t already done so, you can request a Certificate of Good Standing by following the directions, and if you don’t have an e-mail address on file with the OCA (which you should! ), the certificate will be sent to the counsel’s public registration e-mail address. If neither of those addresses can be found, the certificate will be sent to the e-mail address used to submit the request. Please keep in mind that if you are a new student, it may take several days from the date of your admission for your request to be processed; any requests submitted before that time period has passed will most likely be denied.

Keep a copy of any document or correspondence you send to the Committee, including your completed application and all attached documents, in your own “admission file” to keep track of any notices and information you receive from the Committee.
The State Board of Law Examiners (“the Board”) then formally certifies you for admission to one of the four departments of the Appellate Division in the State based on your address if you pass the Bar Exam and the M.P.R.E. A “Notice of Certification” will be sent to you by the Board.
A fillable applicant checklist is also included, as well as a fillable rider if more space is needed for responses. Do not retype the questionnaire or the forms that go with it. Reformats will be returned to the customer.
You may then file an application to the above address if you have been accredited to the Appellate Division, First Department. Do not file with us until you have received the Board’s “Notice of Certification.” A preliminary interview date with the Committee will be assigned once we receive your completed application, and a notice will be mailed to you. Following the Committee’s review of your application, you will be notified of the date, time, and location of your interview, mandatory orientation program, and admission ceremony, during which the oath of office will be administered in open court. This notice will also let you know if you need to submit any additional documentation to finish your application. You may download the General or Lawyer’s Assistance Forms separately if the Committee requests them. This application, interview, orientation, and oath cycle occurs on a regular basis throughout the year.

A corporation or LLC formed in New York may operate in other states if it meets the criteria to be classified as a “Foreign Corporation” in the state where it is not incorporated. When applying for the Authority to do business outside of its home state, the entity may be required to submit a Standing Certificate (also known as a “Certificate of Existence”). State requirements differ, but the majority of states require a Good Standing Certificate from the home state.
