We’ve been on the lookout for people who’ve signed up for an online MBA program after writing about the best online MBA programs and Online MBA vs Traditional MBA. We ran into Rohit Shrivastava, who was eager to share his story with us.
He enrolled in the University of Virginia’s McIntire Executive Degree in Management Program. In comparison to full-time MBA programs, which normally charge over $100,000, the online eMBA fee was under $3500. He was able to keep his job while pursuing his one-year eMBA online.
It all began when I completed about ten years of work experience with some of the best IT companies in the world, working with diverse teams in various geographies, mostly in North America. I was promoted to project/delivery manager after beginning as a software engineer.
However, it was virtually impossible to advance beyond that point. You don’t really run into senior executives until this place, and when you do, they’re usually people spearheading their way into management with a few years of experience and an MBA or other higher degree.

I have a B.Tech in Information Technology and 7 years of IT experience. Currently employed by a multinational corporation with a competitive compensation plan. Can anyone please shed some light on the University of Virginia’s McIntire Executive Degree in Management Program? I’m not sure if this course will be beneficial to my professional development. This course appeals to me because I want to obtain a management degree in order to advance in the business world. Please share your thoughts on whether this will be merely a credential to add to my resume. Please accept my sincere gratitude. Greetings, Arpita is a woman who lives in India.

The McIntire School of Commerce is the undergraduate and graduate business school for Commerce, Global Commerce, Accounting, Information Technology Management, and Business Analytics at the University of Virginia. It was founded in 1921 as a result of a gift from Paul Goodloe McIntire.
Undergraduate students in the two-year McIntire program will receive a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in accounting, finance, information technology, management, and marketing. Undergraduate students at UVA apply for admission during their second year, and if approved, they begin their third year in the Commerce department. Some students apply in their third year and are accepted into their fourth (thus spending a total of five years as an undergraduate as McIntire offers a two-year program).
