Only birth records for babies born in Long Beach are kept by the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services. Before the child’s first birthday, these birth certificates can be obtained from our office. The birth certificate can be obtained after the child has reached the age of one year by calling the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office at (562) 462-2137. Please contact the county of birth directly for births that occurred outside of Los Angeles County, as each jurisdiction has its own procedures for obtaining birth certificates.
To receive an application packet, go to the Health Department at 2525 Grand Ave, Long Beach, CA 90815 in person.
