Ged high school diploma los angeles, california

In California, there are also age limits for the GED. You have until 60 days before your 18th birthday to complete the exam, after which you can take it whenever you want. If you are not currently enrolled in high school, you can take the test if you have been out of school for 60 days.
Seventeen-year-olds who have not attended school for at least 60 days are eligible to take the exam. They must also have an official request from a college, university, military branch, or employer to take the test. Taking the exam early, however, will not allow you to receive your equivalency certificate sooner. Your diploma will not be sent out until you turn 18 years old, regardless of when you take the test.
In order to pass the GED exam in California, you must score at least 150 points on each of the subtests; however, the state is considering approving GED scoring updates that would lower the minimum passing score to 145 points.
You are not obliged to complete all of the subtests on the same day, but you may do so if you wish. You also won’t have to worry about the exam having a time limit. You are allowed to take as much time as you need to complete the test in California.

How to get your ged

The HiSET Test and the GED are two different exams you can take instead of getting a high school diploma. You will be awarded a High School Equivalency Diploma if you pass either test and show that you have the same skills and knowledge as a high school graduate.
Because the GED combines reading and writing into a single literacy test, it has four parts and only a computer version. Each subtest costs $35, and you can take the GED tests as many times as you like over the course of a year.
The HiSET offers a paper and computer option, as well as five subtests (writing and reading are separate tests). A new registration fee of $140 is required, as well as a $32 fee for each subtest. Each of the five (5) subtests can be taken up to three (3) times per year.

You must be a California resident or a member of the armed forces assigned to duty in the state of California, have not finished high school, and meet the following eligibility requirements to take the HiSET exam in California:
The HiSET test fee in California is $12.75 for computer-based subtests and $17 for paper-based subtests. The HiSET test fees do not include the $20 California state administrative fee or test center fees. The cost of a test center varies. For more information, contact your test center.
You must pay for the exam when you schedule it in person, online, or over the phone (depending on the requirements of your chosen test center). If you only have cash and your test center does not approve your payment method, you can use one of the following methods:
In California, the HiSET exam is available in both electronic and paper-based formats. Both formats, however, are not available at every test center. Before scheduling your testing appointment, double-check that the format you prefer is available at your chosen test center.
