Welcome to the new certificate in fundraising course
Fundraising has become one of the most important growth areas for nonprofit organizations in Canada, with over 170,000 charities. Over the last ten years, fundraising careers have grown by leaps and bounds – and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Building bridges between charities and donors requires well-trained and informed fundraisers. As a fundraiser, you can assist organizations in exceeding their financial goals while also building a community of committed supporters.
This certificate program is intended to help you develop your leadership and management skills while honing your knowledge of fundraising tools and strategies. You will gain expertise in creative fundraising techniques, non-profit marketing and solicitation, and donor recognition through this six-credit program. You’ll also learn how to thank donors in order to encourage them to keep giving.

Iof academy: what is the certificate in fundraising?
When it comes to big gifts, we are often asked if a degree or CFRE certification is required. And this raises a much bigger question about the role of education in preparing someone for a job. This is a subject about which I oscillate—a vacillation I’ll explain later.
“… certification shows the public that fundraisers are committed to the highest ethical and professional standards and have gained significant levels of competence in their work,” CFRE International, the organization that certifies fundraisers, says.
I’m not sure that’s entirely true, because someone might seek certification while being unethical, dishonest, and incompetent. Furthermore, obtaining CFRE certification does not imply that a person has attained significant levels of competence. I don’t believe that acquiring knowledge alone equates to competence. It is beneficial, but it is just one part of the puzzle.
According to an AFP salary survey, accredited fundraising experts earn more than their non-certified counterparts. According to one poll, CFREs earn 23 percent more on average than their non-certified counterparts.
