This multidisciplinary certificate program teaches organizational planning, leadership development, and program assessment skills. By incorporating expertise from psychology, public service, sociology, geography, and liberal studies, the program encourages established and emerging professionals to expand their perspective on urban development programs in an inter-disciplinary learning environment.
A minimum of 16 quarter hours of graduate credit must be completed successfully. Each course lasts four and a half hours. A single department may receive no more than two credits toward the certificate. Please keep in mind that the course schedule is subject to change.
Students may also enroll in the elective courses listed below, with the consent of the program director and, in many cases, the instructor’s approval. Participants will typically be limited to one of the following courses (each lasting four quarter hours):

Details on meeting dates and times for particular cohorts can be found near the bottom of this page in the schedule tables. The following are the time commitment and meeting requirements for each cohort in general:
On October 8th, October 15th, October 22nd, and October 29th, 30-minute weekly check-ins via Zoom videoconference will be held. Participants will attend one session per week, with the option of attending at 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.

This certificate program is for people who want to improve their analytical skills while staying current on regional land use, transportation, and economic development issues. It gives students a view on municipal and metropolitan planning institutions and issues affecting public service delivery, as well as innovative solutions to urban and suburban development problems. The Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development is partnering with us to offer this certificate. The Institute offers a number of programs in the areas of regional land use, infrastructure, and transportation.
