We are proud of our effort to offer the CCSR program in cooperation with the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business’s Center for Education on Social Responsibility (CESR).
In collaboration with B:CIVIC, the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business Certification in Corporate Social Responsibility is intended to meet the changing needs of CSR practitioners, regardless of role or title. And, whether you’re a seasoned CSR pro, a newcomer to the field, or looking to make a career change in this field, this certification program will allow you to expand your expertise, thoughts, and network within the Colorado CSR community. The CCSR course is collaborative, interpersonal, and experiential, with professors, class cohorts, and guest speakers/subject matter experts participating in dialogue-based learning.
In 2020, B:CIVIC will offer one individual per in-person class a needs-based partial scholarship for participation in the Certification in Corporate Social Responsibility program to further the B:CIVIC mission of elevating business for good. The B:CIVIC scholarship aims to increase community leaders’ involvement in the field of corporate social responsibility by providing them with firsthand experience to inform their social impact work. To be eligible for this scholarship, you do not need to be a member of B:CIVIC.

The unprecedented problems of the twenty-first century, such as climate change, demographic change, resource scarcity, and urbanization, have exacerbated the demand for greater corporate responsibility. Companies will not only be expected to contribute to the solution of these problems for the sake of society; they will also be required to do so in order to remain competitive in the long run. In this course, we’ll look at how businesses and society interact in today’s globalized world, and how corporations can fulfill stakeholder expectations while balancing social, environmental, and economic goals.
You will gain practical experience through group project assignments on how to implement “Strategic Corporate Responsibility” programs as part of this program.
Michael Porter coined the term “strategic corporate responsibility” to describe how internal business goals and objectives (profits, market share, brand equity, etc.) are strategically integrated with stakeholders’ goals and objectives. Porter’s evaluation tools, as well as the teachers’ experience working on CSR programs with global leaders like IKEA and Coca-Cola, are used to help you implement realistic CSR solutions in real-world scenarios.

The University of Pennsylvania in the United States offers a free online course called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): A Strategic Approach. The class is designed for people who work in corporate leadership positions and want to learn more about corporate social responsibility. The class is taught in English, and there are no prerequisites for enrollment in terms of schooling or work experience.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): A Strategic Approach is self-paced, so students can work at their own pace. Students should break the course down into four weekly units, according to the teacher. The class can be completed in two to five hours of study time per week using this schedule. Students will have a clear understanding of what Corporate Social Responsibility is and will be ready to take the first steps toward launching their own sustainability projects by the end of the course.
The University of Copenhagen in Denmark offers a free online social sciences course called Sustainable Vikings: Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility in Scandinavia. The class is designed for people in leadership positions in businesses who want to learn more about how to achieve sustainable and responsible business practices. It examines how Scandinavian companies have aligned their corporate strategies with sustainability. Students in business will benefit from the class as well.
