A Marriage License authorizes a couple to marry in the state, but it does not constitute evidence of marriage. You can order a certified copy of your marriage certificate from our website if you need proof of marriage.
A plain copy costs $.50, while a certified copy costs $6.50. Include the names of the bride and groom, as well as the year the license was purchased, in your written request. If you’re not sure about the year, include $.50 per name to be searched if you’re not sure. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your copy so that we can mail it to you.
All copies of marriage licenses have their Social Security numbers removed.
A copy of a marriage license with a Social Security Number visible can only be requested by the bride and/or groom. Please fill out this form if you need a copy of your marriage license with your Social Security Number. We can only mail copies of marriage licenses with Social Security numbers. These papers are not available for purchase online.
We are required by Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 19 to charge fees for copies and records searches. A large number of requests for copies are sent by mail, and consumers often pay more than what is required by law. Overpayments of less than $10 will not be refunded unless the customer specifically requests it. Overpayment refund requests must be made in writing within 60 days of receipt and must include the receipt number.

Marriage licenses in Nevada do not require a blood test or a waiting period, and there is no need to make an appointment. The Courthouse, located at 201 Clark Ave. in Las Vegas, is where you may obtain your marriage license. Both parties must show up in person with identification (photo ID). The cost is $77.00. (cash only). The marriage license was issued right away. You can get a license up to a year before your wedding date.
Citizens of the United States and non-citizens of the United States must meet the same requirements. Non-US citizens should check with their local authorities for any special documents that may be required to ensure that their marriage is recognized in their country. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have no relatives other than second cousins or half-blood cousins, and have no living husband or wife. Applicants may be asked to show proof of age. A marriage license may be denied to those who do not have adequate identification to prove their age. (Photocopies, faxed copies, destroyed identification, privately issued identification, check cashing cards, and faxed copies of identification are all unacceptable.) Marriage licenses require Social Security numbers. Please be sure to have your Social Security Number handy. A marriage license may be denied to those who do not know their Social Security Number. It is understood that non-citizens of the United States would not have a Social Security number.
