CCAC has grown from its humble beginnings in 1966 to become the educational powerhouse it is today—a nationally recognized two-year college dedicated to serving all members of the community. CCAC continues to be the college of choice for nearly one out of every three adults in Allegheny County, thanks to innovative student success initiatives and top-ranked academic and career-based programs.
CCAC enrolls over 25,000 students each year, with nearly 160 degree, certificate, diploma, and transfer programs to choose from, as well as thousands of noncredit and workforce development courses.
Transfer students from local and national two- and four-year colleges are welcome to enroll at CCAC to begin or finish a degree, or to pursue health or career programs. CCAC accepted credits from over 2,000 students and 250 institutions last year.
Students should submit their previous school transcripts well before the start of their first term so that CCAC can complete an assessment for the student’s first advising/registration interview.

The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) is the regulatory body in Canada that oversees animal-based research at Canadian universities. The CCAC guidelines on training personnel working with animals in science serve as the foundation for all personnel involved in the care and use of animals in science in terms of training, oversight, and achievement of competence.
The CCAC experimental animal user training streams listed below provide basic theoretical training on how to use and care for animals in an ethical manner. These CCAC training templates are not intended to replace standard operating procedures or to serve as stand-alone training for people who want to work with animals responsibly. The following training streams are supplemented by the institution’s comprehensive theoretical and hands-on training for laboratory rodents and other species.
The CCAC’s National Institutional Animal User Training program is followed by the experimental animal user training streams. All animal users must be identified on a protocol that has been approved. The Animal Care Committee issues certificates of completion of online training that are transferable between most Canadian post-secondary institutions.
