Catering and hospitality level 1 is a hands-on, work-related course that will give you a thorough understanding of working in the catering and hospitality industry, including cooking and food and beverage service. The course teaches the skills and knowledge needed to work in the hospitality and catering industry. It is intended to meet the needs of learners who want to work in the industry, and it will provide them with the fundamental skills in a variety of areas before they need to concentrate on a particular career path. Customer service, food preparation, healthy eating, and food safety are among the units.

Catered events necessitate not only high-quality food service, but also a high level of organization as managers coordinate with different staff to ensure a smooth presentation.
To advance their careers or expand their businesses, many food service professionals enroll in accredited online certificate programs in catering. This part qualification is designed to provide the learner with the technical, theoretical, practical, and workplace knowledge and skills they may need in their chosen occupational/vocational field.
The part qualification is designed in such a way that when taken in conjunction with associated N part courses (e.g. N4+N5+N6), learners can receive the National N Diploma after completing the required practical work component of either 18 months or two years, depending on the relevant occupational area.
The part qualification has value in the workplace because it provides learners with essential knowledge and skills that allow them to be productively employed in entry-level positions. In similar professions, the part qualification may be used for updating, upskilling, and/or continuing education and training.
