Both applicants must have a current passport (with a photo) or an original birth certificate, as well as one piece of photo identification (driver’s license, health card, etc.). Parental consent is required for applicants who are 16 or 17 years old. There are no requirements for medical certificates, residency, or citizenship. The cost of obtaining a license is $145. (cash, money order, certified cheque, VISA, MasterCard, debit card). A marriage license is valid for three (3) months from the date of issue and can be used anywhere in Ontario. Applicants are urged to call 705-726-4242 to schedule an appointment for the issuance of their marriage license.
The original or court validated copy of the Decree Absolute or Certificate of Divorce must be submitted if a previous marriage was dissolved or annulled within Canada.
